Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our Spirulina

How does Spirulina work in your body?

How does Spirulina work in your body?

Spirulina is one of the most nutrient-dense foods in the world. It is packed with protein, iron, B vitamins and powerful antioxidants such as phycocyanin — the compound that gives Spirulina its characteristic blue-green colour.

  • Energy & vitality — iron and B vitamins contribute to normal energy metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue¹
  • Antioxidant protection — phycocyanin and other antioxidants help protect cells from oxidative stress¹
  • Muscle & recovery — with approximately 60–70% plant-based protein, Spirulina is a natural source of complete protein that contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass¹
  • Gut health — Spirulina is a natural source of chlorophyll and is often used as part of a varied and balanced diet

¹ These statements refer to the iron, B vitamins and protein content of Spirulina. These are approved health claims under EU Regulation No 1924/2006. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

How much Spirulina should you take per day?

For beginners, we recommend building up gradually to allow your body to adjust:

  • Week 1–2: 1 gram per day (approximately ½ teaspoon)
  • Week 3–4: 2–3 grams per day
  • Maintenance: 3–5 grams per day is suitable for most people
  • Intensive use (e.g. athletes): up to 10 grams per day is considered safe

Take Spirulina preferably in the morning or before exercise. Avoid taking it close to bedtime.

How do you use Spirulina in your food?

Spirulina has a distinctive taste, but with the right combinations you'll barely notice it:

  • Smoothie — blend with banana, mango or pineapple; the sweet fruits mask the flavour completely
  • Granola or yoghurt — stir a teaspoon through your breakfast
  • Energy balls — combine with dates, oats and nuts
  • Pasta or hummus — gives a beautiful green colour and a subtle flavour
  • Juice or water — simply dissolve in a glass of water or fruit juice for the quick option

Do not heat Spirulina above 40°C — this damages the nutrients. Always add it after cooking.

How and where is our Spirulina grown?

Our Spirulina is cultivated under strictly controlled conditions, far from pollution and pesticides:

  • Growing location — closed cultivation systems in Europe, protected from external contamination
  • Water — purified water, free from heavy metals and harmful substances
  • Light — optimal exposure to natural or controlled light for maximum nutritional value
  • No pesticides or artificial fertilisers — 100% organically certified
  • Harvest & processing — gently dried at low temperature immediately after harvesting to preserve all nutrients

The result: a pure, potent product you can trust.
